Hey everyone! We've just put up the newest episode wherein Brent and I (mostly myself) act like jackasses. Is the name Lists & Liquor adequate? Can we not hold our alcohol? Let us know in the comments below! As always, thanks for listening!

I really liked this episode. I thought both list had great characters, and I loved all the love you gave to FFT. I seriously can't wait for when you guys do that game, it's my favorite Final Fantasy!

Anderson.
I love you.
Have my babies.
Who's your favorite FFT character? Or do you just have a generic class that you love to use?

Personally I really fucking love some of the crazy stuff that Samurai and Ninja open up. However the concept of a geomancer is rad.

Hahaha!! I'd have to pull a Arnold Schwarzenegger first! I've always love the design of the Knight class, the cape is sweet. My favorite class would be a tie between dragoon and ninja. I guess my favorite character in the game plot wise would be Zalbaag, but almost every character is badass so that's not saying much. I could I on and on about this game.

While I prefer the original playstation release. Unlocking the Dark Knight in War of the Lions is super fun. I also like the Gameboy versions of thr game but they are(in my opinion) vastly inferior to the original.

Monk is ALWAYS the first class I have every character go into. Early on the self-heal and revival capabilities reduce or eliminate the need for items altogether. For emergencies I always have the newest unique character in the group learn phoenix down and stick them with Items for their second skill.
My favorite character is Delita, I wish we could get him in the party lol.
One of my brothers was a die-hard Izlude fan and always gamesharked him into his party.
Once you... "fix" the PSP version of the game to eliminate load-times, it's the superior version in my opinion. The revamped translation (while a little jarring at first) quickly overcomes the PS1 version, the addition of new characters and classes and maps and multiplayer game modes just add to the experience. However, being unable to steal the genji gear from Elmdor is kinda BS haha.
FFTA and FFTA:2 Brent?
You like them?
We can't be friends anymore. XD

/Puts nerd glasses on "I prefer the original issues" What I mean is that I prefer the ps1 version because its the one I grew up on. I didnt find the additions in War of Lions added enough gameplay to overcome the nastalgia for me. In regards to FFTA & FFTA2, I did enjoy them as games just not Final Fantasy themed games. If you check your expectations at the door they arent that bad and can be enjoyed.

What are you even talking about? "Overcome the nostalgia"? The nostalgia of the translation? It's the exact same game with just more stuff in it!
They are mediocre. They would have been better if not for the stupid ass systems they put into the games like the judges and the laws. Spent more time walking around on the overworld to get beneficial laws than actually playing the game.
It also has the "Legend of Mana" system of putting down locations and then rewarding you with items for putting them in a certain order, except no one wants to play the game over and over and over again to figure out what the "best" order to put that shit down is.
I also STRONGLY disliked tying jobs to races and abilities to weapons. Also some of the abilities were challenge-breaking, like giving your turn to an ally or 1-hit kills.
The multiplayer missions were fun though.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. As we have established before me and you have fundamentally different ways of playing games. I don't always seek out that much information right out of the gate so on my initial play through of the advance games I had plenty of fun. Like I said before they aren't nearly as good as the original but for portable games I enjoyed them.
To address the nostalgia, yea translation can be a tipping point for me. However I think the PSP version felt different for a number of reasons. First and foremost its a handheld title and you know me and my preference for playing on a television. Secondly they changed alot of minor npc names for War of the Lions. So when I was used to an npc on a map being named one thing then it being something else it is jarring. Granted when I made the transition to playing War of the Lions I was still playing ALOT of my ps1 games, so I had FFT practically memorized. Now that some time has passed and its been a hot minute since I've played through it, the changes wouldn't feel so bad. Not to mention there was some "smoothing" done to some of the graphical elements in the maps. Which again when you are as finicky as I am... You get the point.
I will give WotL this. It is overall an improvement on the original title, with all the added content and especially those cool cut scenes. This was a question of preference though. So I prefer the original version for the warm tingly feeling it gives me in my little boy parts.

I think I'd pick the original over WotL just because I also enjoy playing on a bigger screen. I've got a friend who has one of those cables that hook to the psp so you can output the screen on tv. Lucky bastard.
As for Advanced and TA2, I never really got into either of them. I didn't enjoy the law system, I hated it. I kept comparing everything to Tactics, and I guess that's why I couldn't enjoy them.

I'd heard about those mythical cables.
All this FFT talk has got me hankering to replay Tactics Ogre too lol
Did y'all ever play it?

I played Let Us Cling Together for a little bit, but then my psp broke. I had fun with it, the whole going back on moves you made was strange to me. I never got back to playing it thought.

Ah yeah, I forget what it was called but it was like a "casual" mode feature.
It was intended to let you make different choices on the battlefield, much like you could go back and make different choices in the game world (once you've finished the game once).
A nifty little feature for people who wanted to use it I suppose, as it lets you rewind the fight all the way back to the beginning if you so desire when things don't go your way.
I'm a huge Ogre nerd, they are some of my favorite games. Ogre Battle 64 being my favorite from the series. Going back and playing March of the Black Queen now though is pretty rough in comparison.
