Oh the shadow in the picture stuff gives me chills. If I were to rank the story lines I remember(its been a while since I finished it)
1. The shadow with the small boy
2. The guy in the asylum and the cottage in the woods
3. The chick in that town with the upside down face
4. That quija board/demonology stuff
5. The unsound and that composer guy
6. Those monks/orphanage with the russian chick
7. The shit with Strand's wife

I'm pretty much in agreement with your list.
Nothing really gave me chills but I found the majority of it all really captured my interest.
I went back and tried to listen to Tanis but it became background noise to me, kinda sucks.
