Ooooh boy was this an episode. Brent, Nick, and Nick's brother Ryan discuss Fire Emblem Fates. Opinions were rather divisive and I think for the first time on this show Brent and I were completely and utterly disappointed with a game. I think there are two factions when it comes to Fire Emblem: The Old Guard and The Waifus and I think the Old Guard are disappointed that Intelligent Systems is pandering to the Waifus and even though I understand that it's selling more copies this way, over the long haul I think it's detrimental to the series. I don't know if I'll be buying the next installment in the series, but the way it's looking currently it's going to be a no. Which kind of sucks, because I own every US release so far of the series and have emulated the older games to play. But the times they are a changing. So what do y'all think? |

I agree 100%. I'm such a huge FE fan, started with 7 after I picked it up at random at a GameStop in middle school. It blew my mind! I honestly didn't even know about this game until a week before it came out. At first I was excited, ready to open my wallet and retreat to my game room for a solid couple of days. Then I read that the game was split into 3 different "versions". So I said nope, not buying it.
Fire Emblem has always been a niche game in America, but when Awaking came out, it made a good profit and more people were aware of the series. So I get the feeling that Nintendo or IS thought that they could make more money by making the game have these 3 different stories.
I haven't played either myself, but judging by your scores, I don't think that I'm missing much. I would prefer one game with a good story and great challenge. Or a port of FE 6 for 3ds!

Nice episode! Looks like I will not be playing this game. Sounds like you guys were very disappointed. I mean when you say you want to blow your dick off it does not say much about the game lol. I have only played the last fire emblem game so I never got to into them. Well at least the next game you guys play will be more enjoyable. Breath of Fire is pretty legit.

If you can find it (or want to emulate it) I can't recommend the 7th installment enough (Rekka no ken or Blazing Sword). In my opinion it is the best game in the series, definitely the best game released in the US. |
