Ok, might be a thread on here about this. But now there is another anyway!
My namne is Björn Wåhlander (yeah.. Lets not try that one out my American friends lol) aka Menthion on the intrawebs.
Started gaming on the NES that my brother had, and what games he had bought or borrowed. Never had many games as a child really, mostly borrowed here and there. So the experience is sort of spread out in different genres. But the games that comes to mind from that system is Castlevania 3 and the Guardian legend.
On the SNES there was a bit more momentum and I started to get in to more of the rpgs. Soul Blazer, Secret of mana Breath of fire and some more, and for the game that will make you hate me, FF mystic quest! I have such damned fond memories of that game. My first own game that I remember buying after looking at the box haha. (Yeah yeah, scorn me best you want about liking that game, my memories are made of rose coloroed candybar goggles with unicorns shitting rainbows!)
Other then the first small steps there..
I am a 33 soon turning 34 old dude from Sweden who listens to metal and work in the care sector. I am helping a 27 year old guy who has an handicap and needs help in his everyday life with things like cooking, cleaning, shopping etc. been doing this for something like 13 years, started after my military duty was done. (Was mandatory back then for ten months.)
I have a wife, married since two years back, been together for nine years or somesuch. (Who is counting, unless you are a woman that is). Got a stepkid who is 13 years old, he likes games, but not rpgs. Aint got the patience or interest for it I belive. (Did I say STEPkid?! J/k)
Gametime nowadays a kind of cut short due to family, house and wife not sharing interest and dont get my interest in it really, so well. The fight continues! Lol I really enjoy this podcast, the Is it worth it podcast that Blaine has. It gives me a bit of throwback and I can relate to the talk and feelings about games, even if I have not played half or something haha.
There is a little about me, maybe someone else feels like sharing something, otherwise I gave it a try at least haha. might kick in a photo here, but then again, we want more people on the forum, so I might skip that...

Is the pronunciation: "B-yorn Wa-lan-day"?
Good to hear some stuff about you as a person. Sometimes we all just imagine the person behind the screen name as someone or something else, hell even as not a real person so it's always good imo to have real substance to put with a name.
I am called "Nicholas Gantner" officially, but most people just call me Nick.
I started gaming on the NES just like Bjorn up there, games like Super Mario, Duck Hunt, Friday the 13th, etc. Remember some platforming ninja game that I've never been able to remember the name of too.
Ended up getting a SNES eventually and that's where my RPG obsession really started: Breath of Fire, Illusion of Gaia, Super Mario RPG to name a few. And I ALSO love Mystic Quest Ment! Fuck the haters!
I am 27 (as of a few months ago) and work in the health care field as a Respiratory Technician. Been doing it for 4 years or so. Also going to school for Electrical Engineering at the moment.
Have a girlfriend of like a month who is a Dental Hygienist, we are planning on moving in together in the next month or two so that'll give me time for gaming again.
I also eat babies.

Some letters are hard to get a good explanation on, but the first part is close I suppose. The second part is Wah-lander. If we ever do a episode or something, or Skype is in play. I will tell you and you can have a go at it haha.
I figured this thread might do just that, give a bit of reality to the people behind the accounts. We hear much and get a picture of you and Brent, but this might shed some light over the rest. If we get some more people in here this might be a good thread for people to join in!
What do you do in your line of work? I imagine there being sort of sedatives and keeping watch on anastetics. (The stuff that makes people sleep, no clue on the actual spelling).
Great to hear about your plans and that things are moving along!
I can now say that I am 34 lol, passed it now on the 17th haha. Went with a bang and saw Iron Maiden live with my brother and a friend.

I really love the idea behind this topic. With it just being a small group here (at least for now, it will grow!) I really like the idea of us just giving each other a little bit of info about ourselfs.
As you all know, I'm Anderson Powers. I've been working at a law firm for the past year and love it. It's the typical 9-5 job, similar to things you'd see in office space or The Office, just less crazy. I went to college for 2 1/2 years for web design, then decided to change majors and take time off. Mostly I've been just trying to figure out my life while enjoying the ride.
I also started with the NES. Super Mario Brothers, TMNT 1,2, and 3, P.O.W, and a bunch others. We got it around 96, I remember I was 5 and just started Kindergarten. Loved it to death. I remember my uncle and dad staying up late playing baseball and some space game(To the Earth I think).
Anywho, I mentioned in the Golden Sun episode that my first RPG was FF7. Me and my brother played it back and forth, sharing a save file. After that, I received Final Fantasy Tactics on the ps1 for Christmas, and damn, did I love that game. It's my favorite Final Fantasy title still to date. I was young, so I didn't really get the story, but the gameplay dug it's hooks into me and reeled me along for a ride.
I wanna keep this short, since I'm at work typing this, but yea, seems like we have similar starting points with games!

Damn that sounds like a great time Ment!
And yeah Anderson, when I got FFT it was all I played for MONTHS. It's still the game with the most time invested in it for me.

My name is Kevin Kujawski (Polish heritage) I started playing videogames with the NES. Just off the top of my head I remember playing the orginal final fantasy, dragon warrior(mostly watching my dad on those two), Mario 123, duck hunt, the simpsons where you are bart spray painting shit, Mike Tysons punch out, excita bike. I mean I have been playing games since I can remember. What really got me hooked on RPG's though was FF6. Major Spoilers coming! Skip the next paragraph if you haven't played FF6. Also you really, really, reaaaally, should go play this game if you have not. I am totally biased, however. I thought all the characters were great and to me at the time Shadow was the coolest character ever. I mean he had a dog that would one shot people randomly. I liked how you could buy his services throughout the first half of the game and then secretly save him at the end. Figuring out his backstory through flashbacks and how Rem was his daughter. I think it was the first time I felt like I was a part of the story and I deeply cared for the characters. There were so many unique things like the Opera, Ultros, Secret characters, that kept the game fresh. Also, Kefka. That laugh, how evil he was (LEO, killing all the espers, poisoning the water for Cyans hometown, etc)! I mean he basically won the first half of the game. I never wanted to beat down a bad guy more than him. I haven't played the game in years and I can still remember so much of it vividly. I am a 32 and I am a manager at Menards which is a retail store in the Midwest so I have crazy hours and work every other weekend. I also am a huge base ball fan and the Cubs are my favorite team. So generally my videogame playing tends to dwindle during the summer when I watch/read a lot of baseball. I also play fantasy baseball so I am always messing with my teams. I also have a woman in my life and have been with her for about 5 years. Not married or engaged but getting close. Tried to get her into gameing...but didn't take.

How often do you win the fantasy baseball stuff? I have no idea how all those fantasy things work lol Depends on the league. I play head to head categories. Where each week you play another team and for example if you have more home runs than the other team you get a point for the week. usually it is 5 hitting categories and 5 pitching (5x5 scoring). Each team has the normal batting spots and you can start so many pitchers a day. I enjoy it but it is not for everyone.

Kinda sounds like a mix between strategy and luck.
I wonder if such a system could be applied to a fantasy setting?
The obvious issue is where to glean the relevant real-world statistics from.
